Nikki Payne Delivers High-Octane Hilarity in All-New Comedy Now!, Saturday, April 19 on CTV

Toronto (April 17, 2003) – Described as “Raggedy Anne on acid,” Canadian Comedy Award Winner and Gemini nominee Nikki Payne gets down and dirty in an all-new Comedy Now!, premiering Saturday, April 19 at 10 p.m. ET on CTV (check local listings).
In her wildly brazen stand-up special, Payne is at her raunchy best for 60 minutes of reckless hilarity. With an endless supply of energy and sheer enthusiasm, the Nova Scotia native speaks candidly about sex, growing up in the Maritimes and life with a lisp. Here’s Nikki …
On Growing Up In a Trailer: When my dad got mad, he’d say, “don’t make me turn this house around”. If I wasn’t home by curfew they’d move. At Halloween, we’d just line all the kids up and drive the neighborhood past them.

On Alcohol Rehab: They give you pamphlets with helpful hints on how to stop drinking. One of the hints is stock up your fridge with other “fun” beverages such as mineral water and guava juice. It’s that simple. Lets see, I’m not getting laid, I spit when I talk, my life’s slowly spiraling into an emotional abyss. I could sure use a Snapple right now!

On Dog Food Ads: They say things like revolutionary thinking went into the development of this dog food. Provides recommended levels of glucosamine and sulfate for all your dog’s nutritional needs.  I’ve seen my dog lick her ass. I don’t know how worried she is about her glucosamine and sulfate levels.

Raised in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Payne moved to Toronto in 1999 for what she thought would be a brief 6-month stint doing amateur nights. But four years later, she continues to gather more and more acclaim as each year goes by. In 2000 she won Yuk Yuk’s search for Canada’s Funniest new comic then in 2001 she won a Canadian Comedy Award for best newcomer. She received an additional Canadian Comedy Award in 2002 for best female stand up and also received a Gemini nomination that same year.
